Hi
Laurie –
First of all, THANK YOU for all of the effort that you put
in to obtaining so many wonderful awards for the Summer Sizzler.
“Starcurious” and I were fortunate enough to be
the recipients of a beer cooler from LCBO, a portrait plaque
from Gerry Kuglin Photography and a leather halter and shank
from Greenhawk.
Besides having a successful show in terms of points and winning,
we also had a terrific time! The entertainment and hospitality
at Carp is second to none. We will be back.
Kindest regards,
Sandie Heirwegh |

| Thank
You EOQHA On
July 1st 2005, we received the most devastating news. Who
would have ever guessed that in a million years our home
& stable would have been struck by a tornado? You panic.
You shake, worry and than panic some more. Your 200 km away
& can only worry until you see it with your own eyes.
Take inventory of what’s most precious to your heart…your
horses. Nothing else seems to matter at that time except
them….Forty-two stalls, four shelters & a beautiful
arena, gone in ten seconds. What are you to do? The horses
out numbered the stalls…..
The
up side of this ordeal was that we were all on our way to
attend the Canada Day show at the RCMP fairgrounds when
the call came through with the news in Ottawa. We count
our lucky stars and thank God and wonder how ALL our babies
(including the cats & two sheep) made it through this
terrible disaster without even a scratch!
Things like this make you sit down and realize how really
fortunate you are. And when you find out who really cares
and who your real friends are.
We have always enjoyed going to the Carp circuit. Everybody
always has so much fun and there is a “certain something”
that you can’t really put your finger on but it’s
not found or felt at any other horse show. And we really
did find that out when we were presented with everyone’s
donations towards our re-build.
We cannot express in words how touched & taken aback
both Claude & I were at that moment. The warmth was
truly felt that Sunday afternoon. Thank you all from the
bottom of our hearts.
It
is something that we will never, ever forget.
Sincerely,
Claude & Marilyn Vézina |

I
just wanted to say Thanks to everyone that helps to put on
the show at Carp. It was a very well organized show and a
lot of fun too. The events after the show is completed are
very entertaining and the atmosphere is great. See you again

Congratulations
to Sheryl, Kathy and the banquet committee for the great party
on Sat. nite. We, the three muskateers (Caitlin, Marlene and
Myself) are really glad we made the trip from Peterborough.
Also, congratulations on keeping the EOQHA going for 25 years.
My family (The Roberts) were actively, showing members of
this club, when it first started out. My mon and I had great
times then and now my daughter and I are continuing the tradition.
It is great that the club is still going strong after all
this time. A sincere thanks to all that keep this EOQHA up
and running.

I
just wanted to congratulate everyone involved in the Awards
Banquet. I had a great time and was very impressed at
how everything ran flawlessly. It is not easy to hand
out that many awards and keep people interested. I enjoyed
the change to an evening event and it kickstarts the upcoming
show season and lets everyone catch up with each other. I
will be looking forward to this years shows.
Thanks again,

...just
had to email to say you guys really out did yourselves on
the "Queen" contest!! And I had to miss it
all as I had to go home to feed! Saw the website though
and the pictures, story, etc. are first class. I received
many emails from those who attended telling me what a great
time I missed. Thanks for all your hard work organizing
this, and all the other entertainment, and for bringing it
to those of us who had to unfortunately miss the big event.

Hi Laurie,
I know you probably are hearing this quite often but you are
doing a great job with the web page and organizing events
for the club.... I was just in Palgrave this past weekend
and happened to hear some
men talking about the great time they had at Carp ...how it
was like a vacation...lots of laughs and they talked endlessly
about the drag queen contest.... These were men that belonged
to a different area...someone else
mentioned about how much fun Carp was and how they are going
to start bring their friends. I have been a member of the
club since 88/89 and it is amazing how the club has grown
.....keep up the good work...you guys are doing so much for
the club...
take care and thanks again...

I just
want to say congratulations on an absolutely well run
show. It seemed like it was never ending fun, and the time
went extremely fast. You guys all worked very hard to put
one amazing show on with so much to do and some very exciting
events as well. Hats off to all involved, it will be hard
to out do this one!

I
attended the "Summer Sizzler" over the weekend and
was pleased to hear the show being referred to as the largest
show ever held by the EOQHA. Congratulations to all
those volunteers which I know must involve dozens giving up
their long weekend for the sake of their fellow AQHA enthusiasts.
When I arrived home from the show I looked back through some
old files and came accross a couple of items the members -
particularly the "select members" might be interested
in. They are the "class
list" and the "show
report"from the very first show held by the newly formed
EOQHA on May 18, 1981. Maybe
if you can find space on your web, people can reminisce!!

OH MY
LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FOR ANYONE UNFORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE MISSED OUR AREA 3 CONTESTANTS
IN THE EOQHA DRAG QUEEN CONTEST..............YOU MISSED THE
TIME OF YOUR LIFE.
RON (RHONDA) HEPBURN AND RICK O'DONNELL PUT ON A SHOW THAT
ONLY 'VEGAS' COULD MATCH. SINGING 'THE PICTURE' BY CHERYL
CROW AND KID ROCK' THEIR PERFORMANCE WILL BE PERMANENTLY SCORCHED
INTO MY BRAIN. FOR THE ENTIRE DRIVE HOME FROM CARP,
I COULDN'T STOP SINGING THAT SONG.
BILL RINZEMAS INTERPRETATION OF TINA TURNERS FAMOUS CAREER
TURNING SONG WOULD HAVE MADE MS TINA VERY PROUD. WE HAD NO
IDEA BILL COULD DANCE SO RAUNCHY.
LUCAS, WELL ONE HAD TO BE THERE.........WORDS CAN NOT DESCRIBE
HIS PERFORMANCE. PUT IT THIS WAY, I DON'T RECALL EVEN
HEARING HIS SONG, AS THE CROWD WAS SCREAMING SO LOUD.
MO RIVEST............IN HIS SEE THROUGH BABY BLUE GOWN AND
FLAMING RED NAILS, WAS A PICTURE THAT ALSO WILL BURN IN MY
MEMORY FOR MANY YEARS TO COME. ACTUALLY, A LITTLE LIKE
A NIGHT MARE. MO WAS ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE, BUT DEFINITELY
SHOULD CONSIDER A BREAST REDUCTION OPERATION.
LAST BUT FAR FROM LAST, WAS THE BEAUTIFUL HOSTESS OF THE PAGEANT.
....MARK GRICE............I THINK?
MARK, WHO WAS UNRECOGNISABLE, WAS ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING
IN HIS SEQUINED MINI DRESS AND WHITE STILETTOS. THERE WASN'T
A WOMAN THERE THAT WASN'T JEALOUS OF HIS BEAUTIFUL, HAIRLESS
LEGS.
MARK GRICE WITH THE HELP OF ALL THESE "GREAT SPORTS"
PUT ON A SHOW FOR ALL US THAT WAS TRULY THE MOST FUN I HAVE
EVER HAD AT A HORSE SHOW. MY FACE IS STILL SORE FROM
LAUGHING SO MUCH.
THANKS A LOT GUYS....YOU WHERE WONDERFUL

You
know you are a horse person when...
| You
drive your truck to work and the mirrors occupy the parking
spaces on both sides of the truck |
You
walk into a 'ritzy restaurant' with your friends after a full
day of showing horses wearing dirty tee shirts, jeans, boots,
and spurs and you really don't care |
| The
car you drive to work everyday hasn't been washed in a year,
but the truck and trailer you use on week-ends is washed before
and after every horse show |
The
non-horsy guy/gal you just started dating gives you a funny
look after glancing into the back seat of your car, and you
realize your whips and spurs have been noticed |
| You
cannot imagine why anyone would think it is kinky to own whips
|
You
often sneak furtively into Laundromats and pretend that you
really didn't just put that stinky, filthy horse blanket into
the comforter-sized machine |
| You
buy business suits that will double as a showmanship jackets
|
You
see the vet more than you see your child's pediatrician |
| You
have more pictures of your horses in your office than you
have of your family |
You
dress like a lawyer on weekdays, and someone who needs a lawyer
on your days off |
| You
pull a $17,000 horse trailer with a $1,700 pickup truck |
The
only picture you have of your spouse just happens to have
been taken the one (and only) time you let him/her ride your
horse |
| You're
seriously considering an even trade of your 2000 Buick for
a 1986 Diesel crew cab dually pickup truck |
You
realize that finding a horse shoe truly is lucky because you've
saved ten bucks |
| You
hate posing for pictures unless you're on your horse |
You
get your income tax refund and the first thing you do is head
for the tack shop |
| You
plan your pregnancy around the show season so you can send
your horse to the trainer during the eighth and ninth months |
You
have saved five old left mud boots "just in case",
and another right one has sprung a leak |
| When
your six year old tells everyone that he's going to be the
"ring steward" at your aunt's wedding! |
You'll
drive an hour in a snowstorm to ride your horse, but God forbid
you have to drive 5 minutes to the store to buy groceries
|
| Your
friends no longer ask to get together with you on a weekend
afternoon because they know you'll say -- "I can't, I
have a show/penning/rodeo/trail ride." |
Every
time you drive past a construction site, you think how you
could use all that lumber at the barn! |
| You
consider a pristine golf course as a waste of good pasture
land. |
Your
horse gets new shoes more often than you |
| After
arriving at the barn and finding the sprinklers on in the
indoor arena, you go ahead and ride in it anyway. What's a
little indoor "rain"? |
You're
trying to pass someone in a crowded hallway and instead of
saying "excuse me" to him/her, you cluck at them
instead |
| Your
boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse complains that you love your horse
more then you love him/her and you answer: "And your
point is?" |
Your
boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse does something nice for you, and
you say "good boy/girl" and pat him/her on the neck |
| You
meet a business associate for a breakfast meeting and they
reach over the breakfast table to pick alfalfa out of your
hair |
No
one wants to ride in your car because they'll get sweet feed
and hay all over their clothes...But hey, that's OK!!
You'd have to rearrange all the tack to make room for them
anyway! |
| You
are totally grossed out by human hair in the sink or tub,
but don't mind horse hair in your washer, on your clothes,
in your food.. |
You
don't mind throwing the frozen manure balls for the barn dog
to fetch! |
| You
choose your new dog by which breed is best with horses |
You
always have new foal pictures in your wallet |
