EOQHA
Youth Announce those Named to the 2007 Youth Honour Roll

The EOQHA Youth Honour Roll is pleased to announce that
ten of its’ youth have been named to the list, in
the program’s inaugural year. In
order to be named to the Honour Roll, youth had to apply
for consideration, complete ten EOQHA volunteer hours,
participate in youth fundraising endeavors, and attend
EOQHA Youth Meetings.
These
ten individuals have each earned a $50 bursary to be used
towards their post-secondary education. They have the
option to keep their bursary in trust until the September
following their 21st Birthday, allowing their bursary
to earn additional interest. In
addition to their bursary those named to the EOQHA Youth
Honour Roll and who are part of the Ontario Secondary
School Community Service Program, can use their ten hours
of volunteer work to apply to their high school credit.
Youth named to the list can also request letters of recommendation
from the EOQHA Youth Advisor for post-secondary school
applications and perspective employers.
The
recipients will be recognized at the 2007 EOQHA awards
banquet to be held on Saturday June 1, 2008 as part of
the 2008 EOQHA Spring Fling.

EOQHA's 2007 Congress NYATT Team ties for 7th place out
of 77 Teams from Across North America~

Missing is team member Kristena Senical Its
with great excitement that I write to let our EOQHA family
know that the 2007 EOQHA Youth Congress Team , is officially
a Top Ten 2007 All American Quarter Horse Congress North
American Youth Team Tournament Team.
Leslie Richards & Jodies Little Amous placed 4th in
the NYATT Barrels, this is Leslie's second year representing
our team, she was top 10 in the NYATT Barrels last year,
moving up to top 5 this year. In addition to placing for
us in the NYATT barrels Leslie was also just 100's of a
second away from claiming the Congress Reserve Championship
in Novice Youth Barrels 13 & under. She'll be back next
year, where we're sure she'll do her best to claim the title
and move up from her 3rd place finish.
Betsy MacFarlane & Codys Curiosity in their first year
representing EOQHA placed 6th in the NYATT Barrels. Betsy
also became the Eastern Canadian Pole Bending Champion October
13th at Fletchers with a time 20.609 a personal best and
a record setter for Fletchers Horse World. Betsy & Shugs
her 5 year old home grown speed demon finished off their
Congress with great success, bringing home a Congress bronze
& championship jacket in the Jr. Pole Bending, riding
against the best pros in the nation. Watch
their run here!
Caitlin Gifford represented us with a solid pattern in Showmanship
with Un Zipped By Leaguer. Haylee White in her first year
showing at AQHA shows with Skipa Impulse represented us
in showmanship & horsemanship. Kristena Sinical &
One Cool Pitiet rode for EOQHA in the Hunter Under Saddle.
Joannie Backs and An Awesome Vintage made their first trip
to Congress in their first year of showing AQHA as well
and was selected under one judge to return from her split
in the NYATT Western Pleasure, the pair also represented
us in horsemanship. Kaysi Smith & Pretty Awesome Mister
also made their Congress debut this year in Hunter Under
Saddle & Western Pleasure.
It is with much pride as the 2007 EOQHA Youth Adviser that
I relay these great accomplishments, from a small team of
mostly novices, it goes to show that great feats can be
attained when you give it your all. These 7 girls worked
very hard this year and worked well as a team in Ohio as
well, this top ten award is well deserved.
A personal Thank-you to all the parents, sponsors, and team
supporters, and Tanya Patterson the team's stalling agent
for being part of our successful 2007 EOQHA Congress Team.

Congress Youth Team Top Fundraiser

photo
by: Laurie Haughton
Congratulations
and much thanks to Kristena Senical, the 2007 EOQHA Congress
Youth Team top fundraiser in popcorn sales and sponsorship
soliciting. Without
Kristena's help the EOQHA Youth Team horses wouldn't have
been dressed nearly as nice. Kristena managed to raise enough
sponsorship interest to cover over half the cost to outfit
all seven youth team horses in blankets, halters, leads,
& slinkies. A huge thank you to her parents for sponsoring
the embroidery and to Basswood Stable & Tack for your
sponsorship and help in outfitting our team.
Krestena received a $50 gift certificate thanks to EOQHA
sponsor Tanglewood Tack located in Pembrook ON.
